George Washington Harvell Jr., 75, of the 3500 block of Wright Road, died Aug. 21, 1996, in Chesapeake.
Born in Anderson, S.C., Mr. Harvell retired as a transportation supervisor of Naval Supply Center. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Portsmouth and the Sebrell Hunt Club.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn F. Harvell; a son, George Wayne Harvell and his wife, Cindy, of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Christy, Maxwell, Justin; and a cousin, Sue Helen Grubb of Seneca, S.C.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Celeste Heath. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. The family requests any memorials be made to Caring Committee of Centenary United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
