Anna Elizabeth Manning Bays, 71, passed away Aug. 26, 1996.
Mrs. Bays was born in Isle of Wight County, Va., and was a longtime resident of Chesapeake and Portsmouth.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford L. Bays; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Jimmy Morgan, Edna and Frank Witcher; two sons and their wives, William Edward and Amy Manning, James Ernest and Patty Manning. The children are from a previous marriage to William Earl Manning. Other survivors include three stepchildren, Marshall, Rickie and Tammy Bays; three brothers, Russell and Willie Nelms of Windsor, Va., and Robert Nelms of Chuckatuck; four granddaughters, Bonnie Parker, Amber DeBusk, Billie Jo Mustard, Laura Manning; a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Ann DeBusk; two step-grandchildren, Courtney and Allen Baye; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
