Beatrice Veale Pitt Bachelor, of the 1200 block of Highland Ave., died Aug. 24, 1996, in her home.
Mrs. Bachelor, the widow of James Bachelor, was a native of Portsmouth. She was a retired cook from Norfolk Naval Base Exchange. She was a member of First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruby P. Ross of Philadelphia; a son, Ernest M. Pitt Jr. of Amelia, Va.; a sister, Willie Mae Lovett of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Leon Donald Harrell, Karen H. Seats, Cheryl Harrell, Kenneth Harrell, Cynthia H. Williams and Eric M. Pitt; 14 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Warren E. Amlet in First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The family will assemble at the residence for the funeral. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.
