ESTELLE B. PAYTON

Estelle B. Payton, 69, of the 200 block of Chowan Drive, died Aug. 25, 1996, in her home.

Mrs. Payton, a native of Bertie County, N.C., was a food service worker at Hodges Manor Elementary School for 30 years. She was a member of Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth; Baptist Training Union; Feeding the Hungry Ministry; Loyal Workers Club; and church Sunday school of Third Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Deloris A. Daughtry of Portsmouth; three sisters, Annie M. Fullwood, Jean Battle and Eloise Hawk, all of Portsmouth; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming in Third Baptist Church. Burial will be in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Aulander, N.C. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Friday.
