Robert Pressie Vaughan, 79, of Route 1, died Aug. 27, 1996, in Chowan Hospital.
Born in Hertford County, N.C., he was the widower of Shirley Rose Vaughan. He retired from Southern State after 22 years of service. He was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, Hobbsville, N.C., and an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Dale Vaughan of Hobbsville; sons, Robert O. Vaughan, Glen T. Vaughan, both of Suffolk; a grandson, Christopher D. Vaughan; a great-grandson, Christopher B.W. Vaughan; a step great-granddaughter, Jennifer Humphries; sisters, Julia Henderson of Key West, Fla., Bertha Griffith of Franklin; and a brother, Joseph A. Vaughan of Franklin.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Hugh Mizzelle. Interment will be in Southampton Memorial Gardens, Franklin. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times in the residence.
