Ten historically black colleges and universities in six Southern and Midwest states will share $2.5 million in grants to create community development organizations, federal housing officials said Tuesday.
Each institution will receive about $250,000 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Plans include using the money to rehabilitate housing, increase the stock of affordable housing, provide child care, business and community services, and literacy and job training programs.
St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Va., was on the list of institutions along with others from Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio and South Carolina. by CNB
