U.S. Sen. Charles S. Robb of Virginia, speaking at the Democratic
convention Wednesday, praised President Clinton's foreign and
domestic policies. ``Only the commander-in-chief can make the really
tough choices that America's security requires. And time after time,
this president has made the tough choices. And more important, he
has made the right choices,'' Robb said. He pointed to military
efforts in Haiti, Bosnia and the Persian Gulf, and said the nation
is more secure than it was before Clinton took office. Russ Axsom, a
delegate from Hampton, said Robb's speech was a boost for Virginia.
``It does a lot for the delegation, makes you feel good,'' he said.
Delegate Pixie Bell of Fairfax waits impatiently to get to her seat
in the Virginia section Wednesday night as Jim Babb, from Channel 12
WWBT in Richmond, finishes his taping.
