PEGGY G. SWOOPE

Peggy Gibbs Swoope, 61, of the 1100 block of Trestman Ave. died Sept. 1, 1996, at her residence.

Born in Swan Quarter, N.C., she was the widow of George C. Swoope Sr. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church for over 30 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Swoope Duncan of Virginia Beach; four sons, George C. Swoope Jr., David L. Swoope, both of Virginia Beach, Charles L. Swoope, Mark L. Swoope, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Gladys Harris, Diantha Sawyer, both of Chesapeake, Margie Bowen of Swan Quarter; four brothers, Balford Gibbs, Alfred Gibbs, both of Chesapeake, Raymond Gibbs of Gibbs Co., N.C., Bradley Gibbs of Crystal Springs, Fla.; eight grandchildren, John M. Duncan Jr., Stacy L. Duncan, George R. Duncan, Joshua D. Swoope, James L. Swoope, all of Virginia Beach, Angela M. Swoope, Matthew C. Swoope and Corbin L. Swoope, all of Chesapeake.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by Pastor Robert E. Hobson Jr. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Comfort Care Hospice c/o Chesapeake General Hospital.
