Mrs. Miller was a native of San Jose, Calif., and was the widow of Norvelle ``Bob'' Miller. She was a member of The Daughters of the Pioneers of California. She enjoyed being called ``Grandma Babe.'' She raised six children in the San Francisco Bay area where she and her husband owned a restaurant on the San Francisco Bay. Upon retiring, they lived in Capitola by the Sea, Calif. She lived her most of her life in California, moving to Virginia Beach four years ago to be with her daughter, Diane J. Owens, and her son-in-law, Maurice D. Owens. For the last eight months, she was under the loving care of Lynn Shores Manor Rest Home and her friend, Becky Maher.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Owens, and her husband, Maurice D. Owens of Virginia Beach, and Virginia Ryan of Seattle; sons, Robert Miller and his wife, Constantina ``Dena'' Miller of Roseville, Calif.; William Mortimer Miller of San Francisco; Ernest Mason and his wife, Georgia B. Mason of Mount Vernon, Ky.; James Mason and his wife, Patricia ``Patsy'' Mason of Vacaville, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia Hornef Vennum and Mortimer Cook Vennum and her stepmother, Luella Nevada Bear Vennum.
A service will be conducted at the family plot in Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, Calif. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is in charge. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
