We have been loyal readers of your newspaper for the 2 1/2 years we have resided in Virginia Beach. While considering most of your articles appropriate and professional, your latest series dramatizing the Jennifer Evans murder story (Case (NU) 95-031343, Sept. 15 and 16) was appalling. This type of writing is demeaning to the family and dehumanizes the tragedy.
Your writers seem to take delight in the murder-mystery novel approach. However entertaining this style may be to some, its place is not in the newspaper. We were saddened and disappointed to see such a human tragedy exploited for entertainment and newspaper sales. In addition, the inclusion of this story, on the front page Sunday, as a continuing series with pictorials is even more horrific.
We sincerely hope in the future you reconsider the inclusion of such inappropriate material.
