LAURA G. BOWERS

Laura Dalene Garber Bowers passed away Sept. 18, 1996, after a long battle with cancer.

Mrs. Bowers was born in San Diego in 1956, the daughter of James R. Garber and Rosemary V. Mackenzie Manley. Mrs. Bowers' father died in 1956. She served in the U.S. Navy from November 1988 until she was medically retired in 1995 for cancer. Her naval career was spent entirely in Norfolk as an aerographer's mate. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Keith; two stepdaughters, Danielle Bowers and Mari Jo Katchmar; her mother and stepfather, Rosemary and Ray Manley; her two sisters, Alison Manley and Tonya Eide; and her stepsister, Debbie Mayer.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Father Patrick Doody. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
