Margaret E. Briggs, 89, of the 1300 block of Penguin Cir., died Sept. 21, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mrs. Briggs was a native of Portsmouth. She was the widow of Royall A. Briggs. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra B. Standing and her husband, Patrick L. Standing, and a son, James M. Briggs and his wife, Lynda Briggs, all of Virginia Beach; a stepdaughter, Juanita Mikles of Norfolk; a stepson, Royall A. Briggs Jr. of Sebastian, Fla.; two sisters, Nani B. Swertfeger and Elizabeth B. Barnes, both of Virginia Beach; two brothers, James M. Bailey and Maupin C. L. Bailey, both of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A church service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, September 23, 1996, at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. J. Scottie Griffin and the Rev. Georgianna B. Johnson. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the home of her son, Jim Briggs, 521 Kerry Lane, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451. H.D.Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel are handling arrangements.
