JAMES STEVENSON

James Stevenson, of the 7000 block of Auburn Ave., went to be with his Lord, Sept. 17, 1996, in DePaul Hospital.

Born in Princess Anne County, he was retired from Trailway Bus Company. He was the widower of Margaret Marie Stevenson and was a member of Garden of Prayer III C.O.G.I.C. where he was chairmen of the deacon board.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Blount, Margaret Sykes, Thelma Williams, all of Norfolk, Claudine Braxton of Philadelphia, Jean Branch of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, James Stevenson of Detroit, Albert Stevenson of Norfolk; two sisters, Izetia Bright of Virginia Beach, Virginia Stevenson of Rochester, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by Elder William Dan White in Garden of Prayer (NU)3. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. The remains will be ready for viewing from 3 to 8 p.m. today. The remains will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Monday. The family will assemble at 1411 Colon Ave. at noon for the procession.
