Donald M. Parkes, 88, of the 5200 block of Edgewater Dr., a retired educator with the Norfolk Public School System and Old Dominion University, died Sept. 23, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Parkes was a native of Altoona, Pa., and a resident of Norfolk since 1948. He was an Episcopalian.
Mr. Parkes attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and graduated from Penn State University. He was a former member and secretary of Optimus Club of Norfolk, and a lifelong member of the Penn State Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth D. Parkes of Norfolk.
A church service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Richard Reid. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.
