Michael Wayne Chambers, 36, of the 2700 block of Burning Tree Lane, died Sept. 22, 1996, in Sacramento, Calif.
A native of Norfolk, Mr. Chambers was a retired detective of the Chesapeake Police Department and member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Lynn Chambers; a son, Steven M. Chambers of Suffolk; mother, Betty Denise Chambers of Portsmouth and father, Robert Lee Chambers of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Denise L. Chambers of Portsmouth, Jennifer L. Flanagan and husband, Rudy, of Chesapeake; maternal grandparents, Clifton R. and Annabel L. Barkley of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Centenary United Methodist Church by the Rev. Donald Seely. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Chesapeake Law Enforcement Benevolent Association, P.O. Box 16175, Chesapeake, Va. 23328. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, is handling arrangements.
