Milton Lee Miles, 86, of the 5300 block of Parliament Drive in Kempsville, died Sept. 27, 1996, following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Josephine D. Miles, who died in 1987.
A native of Virginia's Eastern Shore, Mr. Miles lived most of his life in Hampton Roads. He retired as a Letterer and Grainer from the Navy Public Works Center in 1973. His 31-year federal career included 27 years civilian service at the Public Works Center, preceded by four years active duty with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a longtime Mason, having been a member of Norfolk's Corinthian Lodge, A.F. & A.M. since 1940.
Mr. Miles is survived by a sister, Hattie Hodges of Norfolk; a special cousin, Virginia Miles of Norfolk; two daughters, Patricia Padon and Sharon Cooke of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Michael Padon and Julia Griffen of Virginia Beach, and Todd Hilton of Suffolk; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives in Hampton Roads, Richmond and the Eastern Shore.
The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall Chapel, today from 3 to 5 p.m. A graveside service with Masonic rites will be conducted on Monday at noon in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
