Bessie Bowe ``Boo Boo'' McConnell, 74, of 307 Beacon Hill Court, died Sept. 26, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
She was a native of Norfolk, and a retired custodian of the Norfolk Public Schools after 28 years of service. She was a faithful member of Queen Street Baptist Church, Norfolk, the Dorcus Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the ILA. ``Boo Boo'' was the daughter of the late Clarence and Georgia King.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph McConnell of Norfolk; a daughter, Diane B. Olds of Norfolk; two sons, Alphonso T. Bowe, Robert L. Bowe, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Lena Heidelberg of Norfolk; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The homegoing services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Queen St. Baptist Church by the Rev. Peter T. Wherry. The family will assemble at the residence Wednesday. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive family and friends at the residence. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
