Gervaise Sadler Roane of the 2800 block of Pine Ridge Lane died Sept. 29, 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward and Victoria Booker Sadler, and her husband, Thomas Beverly Roane. Mrs. Roane was born in Mathews and was a lifelong member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, Mathews. She was a teacher for more than 40 years, serving the majority of that time with the Virginia Beach School System. Mrs. Roane was a lifetime member of the PTA.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly A. Roane of Virginia Beach; a grandson, Scott Wyatt Campbell of Charlottesville, Va.; and two great-grandsons, Thomas Roane Campbell and James Alexander Wyatt Campbell, both of Charlottesville.
The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall Chapel, today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Spring Hill Baptist Church, Mathews. A church service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, following the visitation. Burial will be in Haynes Cemetery, Mathews.
