Mary Anne Turner Bailey, 57, left this earth Sept. 28, 1996, owing to complications from cancer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Turner, and her son, Michael Sean Bailey. Mrs. Bailey was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County and attended Smithfield High School, where she graduated valedictorian in 1957. She was a real estate broker, successful entrepreneur and capable homemaker. She recently retired from ``Southern Accents,'' a Smithfield business she created with her sister-in-law, Nancye Wilson, and from the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bailey was a loving wife, mother and sister, a cheerful presence in adversity and a thoughtful friend to everyone. She will deeply be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Byron Bailey Jr.; her loving son, Byron Bailey III; mother, Mary Turner; brothers, Ronald Wilson and wife, Nancye, Luther Wilson and wife, Josephine, Paul Wilson and wife, Shirley; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Bailey.
The family will receive friends at their home at 22615 Tally-Ho Drive, Carrollton, from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a graveside service in St. Luke's Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Acree.
