An 83-year-old man died Monday after he lost control of his car and it struck a building.
Police said the driver, John Lee Smith of the 2900 block of Magnolia St., was driving in the 1600 block of Airline Blvd. when his car crossed the median into oncoming traffic about 2:30 p.m.
Police said Smith's car rolled onto the nearby sidewalk, between a street sign and utility pole, then crossed Brighton Street. The car jumped the curb and sidewalk, then hit the side of the Beazley Foundation building at 3720 Brighton St., police said.
