Elizabeth City sailors swept all three classes in the second annual Albemarle Plantation Invitational Regatta.
In high winds that blew out mainsails on at least two boats, Lloyd Griffith III won the spinnaker class in Second Wind Saturday, with Ernest Davenport of Hertford taking second in Wind Fever and Francis Abbitt and Parham Louis of Oxford finishing third in Heart of Carolina.
In nonspinnaker A Class, veteran Arch Farmer sailed Feather to first. Second went to Mike Robinson of Kill Devil Hills in Hot Flash, and third was claimed by Shawn Murphy of Kill Devil Hills in Seabird.
Bob Carson took first in nonspinnaker B Class in Serenity. Chuck Monsees of Elizabeth City was second in Aquarius and Ronald L. Speer of Manteo was third in Wind Gypsy.
Many of the competitors sailed Sunday to Edenton, which on Saturday will host the third and final race of the Albemarle Sound Triad Regatta matching sailors from the Pasquotank Yacht Club, the Roanoke Island Yacht Club and the Edenton Yacht Club.
