Mabel F. Harris, 84, of the first block of Manly St., died Oct. 2, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.
A native of Norfolk County, she was a member and former pianist at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Portsmouth. She was a retired nurse from Ten Acres Foundation, Princeton, N.J.
Survivors include sisters, Alberta Thompson of Detroit and Beulah DeBerry and Catherine H. Bowser, both of Portsmouth; brothers, Vernon R. Harris and Charles L. Harris, both of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Shonda Sharpe and Nicole Sharpe, both of Hampton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends and a sister-in-law, Rachel O. Harris. She was predeceased by her son, Army Sgt. Howard A. Sharpe Jr.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. E.T. Knight Sr. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today. The family will be at 32 Manly St., Portsmouth, the home of her sister, Catherine H. Bowser, and will assemble there for the procession to the cemetery.
