Benjamin Ray Bonney Sr., 70, of the 1300 block of W. Church St., died Monday, Oct. 7, 1996, at Albemarle Hospital.
He was a native of Princess Anne County, and had retired from the Ford Motor Co., Norfolk. He was a member of City Road United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Albert Leonard and Mary Elizabeth Dozier Bonney and the husband of Norma ``Jean'' Rose Bonney, of the home.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bonney is s urvived by a daughter, Sue Bonney Gregory and her husband, Don, of Gates, N.C.; two sons, Ray Bonney and his wife, Wanda, of Southern Shores, N.C., and Roger Bonney and his wife, Barbara, of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Diana Cox and husband James, Stephanie Bonney, Melinda Byrum and husband Darryl, Don Gregory Jr., Jennifer Bonney, Dennis Gregory, Katrina Cartwright; two great-grandchildren, Victoria Byrum, Catherine Byrum; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
