MYRTLE O. BLYTHE

Myrtle Lee ``Big Mama'' Overby Blythe, 82, died Oct. 7, 1996, in Courtland Health Care Center.

A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie David and Mary Jane Parker Overby, and was the widow of Stafford Blythe. Mrs. Blythe was a homemaker and baby sitter in the Hunterdale community and Franklin. She was a member of the Hunterdale United Church of Christ for 58 years where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, deaconess, member of the Women's Fellowship and various other committees.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Hand of Ahoskie, N.C., Hilda Juanita Sydnor of Boykins; two sons, Bert Blythe and Horace Blythe, both of Franklin; two sisters, Alice Cutchins of Courtland, Cornelia Huffman of Luray, Va.; a brother, Edward Overby of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 15 nieces and 10 nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, George Overby, Dudley Overby, Junies Overby and Virginia Gertrude Overby.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Blythe family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at 22172 Sedley Road.
