ALICE M. FISHER

Alice Mathews Fisher, formerly of Portsmouth, died Oct. 5, 1996, at the Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith, N.H.

She was born Nov. 2, 1918, the daughter of Thomas Walter and Alice Rebecca (Toomer) Mathews, of 510 Crawford Place, Portsmouth. Alice attended Converse College of Spartanburg, S.C., and in 1942, married Lt. Thomas L. Fisher 2nd in Portsmouth's Trinity Episcopal Church. They have resided in the Philippines, England, Germany, New York, Alabama, Virginia and Massachusetts, before retiring in Wolfeboro, N.H., in 1980.

Family members include her husband of 54 years, Colonel Tom Fisher 2nd of Bridgewater, N.H.; her three sisters, Dorothy Lamons of Roanoke, Va., Helen Page of Blairsville, Ga., Mary Henderson of Nassawadox, Va.; her children, Margy Knox, Mary DeLashmit, Tom Fisher III, all of New Hampshire; as well as her grandchildren, Tom and Emily Fisher, Eric Sparks, Willi DeLashmit; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mayhew Funeral Home, Meredith. Memorial donations may be made to the N.H. Association for the Blind, 25 Walker St., Concord, N.H. 03301, or to the Golden View Health Care Center, Route 104, Meredith, N.H. 03253.
