Carl ``Mac'' MacArthur Peters, 54, died Monday, Oct. 7, 1996, at Sentara Hampton General Hospital after a long illness.
A native of Boone County, W.Va., Mac had been a Hampton resident since 1960. Mac was employed by Newport News Shipyard as a production analyst, department X85, for the past 34 years. He was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church and an Army veteran of Vietnam. His other memberships included the Star Hunt Club, where he served as vice president, and the VFW (NU)3219, Hampton.
Mac was preceded in death by his father, Sanford Henry Peters. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Stephenson Peters; his daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Marie and Paul John Aheimer of Vanceboro, N.C.; his mother, Carrie Evelyn Peters of Hampton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Marvin Werman of Hensel, N.D., and Deanna Sue and John Culliford of Star City, Ark.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marian Elizabeth and Michael Linett of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gene C. Fant and the Rev. David Bounds. Burial will follow at noon Thursday in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
