Colonel Ian M. Shipley, 55, chief of police for the City of Chesapeake, of the 700 block of Cardover Ave., died Sunday, Oct. 6, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Dave Libengood. Masonic rites and police honors will be accorded at the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday in Oman Funeral Home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Masonic Home, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, Va. 23223, or the American Heart Association, 360 Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452.
