Frederick Douglas Hooker died Oct. 6, 1996, in DePaul Hospital after a short illness.
He was the son of the late Dora and Walter Hooker. Mr. Hooker was retired from Old Dominion University, where he worked as a painter. Educated in Norfolk schools, he was an Army veteran of World War II.
Frederick Douglas Hooker is survived by his sister, Mable M. Harden; a brother, Joseph D. Hooker; nieces, Phyllis H. Carter of Institute, W.Va., and Shelia Franklin of San Antonio, Texas; and several other nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hale Funeral Home Chapel, Ballentine Blvd. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be a wake today from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Friends may call at the home of Mable Harden, 860 Benwood Road, Norfolk.
