Mrs. Erva O. Hastings Mangum, 64, a former resident of Durham, N.C., died Monday Oct. 7, 1996, in Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Mangum was a native of Durham where she lived most of her life prior to moving to Chesapeake several years ago. She was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Lena Martin Oakley. She was a former employee of the JC Penney Co. and was a member of the Immanuel Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Barry Hastings and Jimmy Hastings, both of Durham; a daughter, Brenda Mosley of Chesapeake; a brother, Elmer Earl Oakley of Durham; a sister, Dot Stephenson of Durham; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Doug Brown and Claiborne Hudson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Ray Smith, Kenneth Smith, Claiborne Hudson, Ralph Braswell, Cecil Richardson and Everett Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rev. Lonnie Graves and Clyde Brooks. Visitation will be at the home of Larry and Dot Stephenson, (NU)9 Fellowship Drive.
