Mina H. Darden, 59, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mina was the daughter of the late Charles Morris Hohenberg and Alice Armstrong Hohenberg. She was a native of Selma, Ala., moving to Tidewater in 1963. She was a lifelong student. She graduated from Hollins College in 1959 with a bachelor of arts in mathematics and philosophy, subsequently obtained masters degrees of arts in humanities and English, and completed advanced studies in psychology. She was a poet, an avid golfer, and a dedicated friend and mother.
Survivors include her husband George F. Darden Jr. of Virginia Beach; her children and stepchildren, Mina Gary Laterzo of Pelham, N.Y., Elizabeth H. Ryan of Santa Monica, Calif., John M. Ryan Jr. of Norfolk, Jennifer M. Darden and John C. Darden, both Virginia Beach; her granddaughter Isabel G. Laterzo of Pelham, N.Y.; her brother, Charles M. Hohenberg Jr. of St. Louis, Mo.; her sister, Alice H. Federico of New York, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Shepard S. Kopp of Santa Monica and Rocco A. Laterzo of New York, N.Y.; and brother-in-law Salvatore Federico of New York, N.Y.
Honorary pallbearers are Joseph C. Addington, Frank Batten, Joshua P. Darden, Dr. Joseph G. Fiveash, Charles M. Hohenberg, Jr., Lee C. Kitchin, Quentin L. Kopp, Shepard S. Kopp, Frederick V. Martin, and Dr. Mallory Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Breast Cancer Ressearch, care of the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. today, Friday, October 11, 1996 at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd of Norfolk.
