GENEROSITY IS REWARDED FOR KISS CONTEST WINNER

DO SOMETHING nice for someone and something nice happens to you.

Lisa A. Chodorov of Newport News really, really wanted to go with her husband to see KISS Oct. 4 at Hampton Coliseum. The family budget, though, only allowed one ticket, so the 30-year-old native of Dayton, Ohio, volunteered to stay home with their two sons.

Even though it killed her.

Chodorov had seen the band in 1984, on the ``Animalize'' tour, but that lineup didn't include all the original members. Paul Chodorov, a Navy man stationed about the sub tender Emory S. Land, tried to help by promising to tell her all about the show when he got home.

What helped more is that Lisa won ``Ernie's KISS Contest,'' sponsored by The Virginian-Pilot, and took home $150 in souvenirs. She should be easy to spot: She's the one in the KISS hat, T-shirt and bandana. She's wearing KISS dogtags, has a copy of the tour program, and her keys are on a KISS key ring. She's also sporting KISS temporary tattoos.

Lisa nailed all 10 answers in the quiz, as did 46 other people - nearly half of the 109 who entered. Hers was the luck of the draw.

Here are the answers:

1. Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent were the two non-original members of KISS who wore makeup.

2. ``The Originals'' contained the first three albums, ``KISS,'' ``Hotter Than Hell'' and ``Dressed to Kill.''

3. Bill Aucoin, their manager during the 1970s, was the man behind the merchandising craze.

4. Paul Stanley wears his star on the right side of his face.

5. On the current tour, Gene Simmons spits blood during ``God of Thunder.''

6. Ace Frehley's guitar smokes during ``Shock Me.''

7. ``Beth'' was the title of Peter Criss' hit ballad.

8. The KISS movie was ``KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park.''

9. Simmons and Stanley were in Wicked Lester before KISS.

10. Everybody knew at least 10 of KISS' domestic albums. by CNB
