Sonya Sue Kelly Dilley, 55, died Thursday, Oct. 10. 1996, at Virginia Beach General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Portsmouth, she had been a lifelong Hampton Roads resident. A past board member and officer of Allstate Equipment, Sonya was a self-employed bookkeeper. She was a member of First UMC of Foxhill and also found fellowship and support at Wallace Memorial UMC, where her light is now shining. She was a past president of Beta Alpha Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.
Sonya is survived by her husband of 36 years, James E. Dilley; two daughters and their spouses, Laura and Gene Thomas and Sherry and Greg Hildebrandt, both of Hampton; her mother, Mary Sexton of Suffolk; her sister, Barbara Butt of Yale, Va.; five grandchildren and one more on the way.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Wallace Memorial UMC by the Rev. K. Adams with interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton, and at all other times at their home.
