FISHING IS SPOTTY ON MOST PIERS

Pier fishing was fairly good at some locations along the northern beaches Friday.

Kitty Hawk Pier reported only a few spot and pigfish taken.

On Avalon Pier, fishing was slow during the morning. Some big spot, pigfish, scattered bluefish, black drum and a speckled trout were landed during the afternoon.

A few pigfish, spot, small blues, croakers and speckled trout were landed sporadically from Nags Head Pier during the day.

Anglers at Jennette's Pier caught quite a few nice spot, a few bluefish, black drum and speckled trout throughout the day.

A few nice speckles up to 3 pounds, 1 ounce, plus small bottom fish, blues and black drum were taken from Outer Banks Pier during the morning and afternoon.

South of Oregon Inlet, fishermen on Rodanthe Pier had a good day catching spot, blues, sea mullet, toadfish and a few puppy drum.

On Avon Pier a few puppy drum and speckled trout were also landed.

Frisco Pier reported slow fishing with only a handful of speckled trout, bluefish, spot and puppy drum taken.

Surf fishing along the northern beaches was fairly slow overall. Anglers landed small bluefish, some nice croakers and a few puppy drum. After a good day of speckled-trout fishing, in sloughs north of Jennette's Pier, action was spotty Friday.

Small bottom fish, a few gray trout, an occasional puppy drum, and black drum were landed from the south and north sides of Oregon Inlet.

Along the beach from Rodanthe to Buxton, spot, tailor blues, speckled trout, small gray trout and a few puppy drum were beached.

At Cape Point, small bottom fish, some puppy drum and a few big drum were taken.

Surf fishermen from Frisco to Hatteras Inlet landed small blues, flounder and a few puppy drum.

Water temperature was 66 degrees Friday at the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck and 72 degrees at the Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island. by CNB
