MATTIE MAE HAMLIN

Mrs. Mattie Mae Hamlin, 55, of 1925 Greenleaf Drive, was called home on Oct. 11, 1996, at 3 p.m. at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Mattie Mae Hamlin was born on March 1, 1941, in Quincy, Fla. Mrs. Hamlin was a longtime resident of Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late Eddie and Pheobe Thompson Sr. She was predeceased by her brother, Eddie Thompson, and her sister, Louise Potts.

She is survived by two daughters, Preda A. Hamlin-Spellman, Sharon D. Hamlin of Norfolk; a son, Eddie J. Hamlin of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Lelar Pearl Crenshaw of Tallahassee, Fla., Mrs. Willia M. Legendre and Mrs. Naomi Taborn; two brothers, Mr. Raymond Thompson Sr., Mr. Tyrone Harris; 11 grandchildren, all of Norfolk; six nieces, eight nephews and a host of friends and relatives.

The family will receive friends at 1324 W. 40th St., Apt. B. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. James Anderson in the chapel of Graves Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
