Clayton Edward Dixon, 71, of the 2700 block of Mark St., died Monday Oct. 14, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Dixon was born in Blue Sulphur Springs, W. Va., and was the son of the late Wiley and Hattie Hamrick Dixon. He was the husband of the late Katherine Opal Dixon. He had retired from Berkley Machine Works and Foundry as a welder and machinist with 38 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his son, John Dixon of Chesapeake; his five daughters, Gloria Treadway of Christiansburg, Va., Marsha Face of Chesapeake, Brenda Dixon, Ellen Fostek, Misty Dunagan, all of Radford; four sisters, Vira Beckham of Arkansas, Mildred Martin of Bellwood, W.Va., Geneva Lyles of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Jane Brickhouse of Ohio; five brothers, Charles Dixon of Canton, Ohio, Ray Dixon of New Hampshire, Marcus Dixon of Washington, N.C., Raymond Dixon and Paul Dixon, both of Chesapeake; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Randy Wooden. Viewing will begin on Wednesday at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
