Edith Louise Sanford, 74, of Humboldt St., died Oct. 13, 1996, in a local hospital.
Born in Hertford, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Spruill. Mrs. Sanford retired as a division manager for Roses Stores after 31 years of service. She was a member of Azalea Garden Church of God, participating in the Unity Sunday School class and Young at Hearts Senior Adults club.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse H. Sanford; two daughters, Edith Leigh Jeffers of Macon, Ga., Rachell V. Hooper of Norfolk; a sister, Ruby Sanford of Norfolk; a brother, Hayden ``Coup'' Spruill of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Denise Matthews of Fitzgerald, Ga., Elaine Stark of Macon and Steward Hooper of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Charlton Spruill and Lon R. Spruill.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Azalea Garden Church of God by Pastor Aubrey Maye. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
