Patrick Lackey's Perspectives column on Oct. 3 painted a metaphor for regional cooperation, but it doesn't go far enough to bring about change.
The Virginian-Pilot must stop its gentle requests and nameless admonitions and start calling our leaders to task when they fail to live up to the promises of full regional cooperation. Only by naming names will your comments command attention and bring forth meaningful change.
And, to facilitate regionalism, The Pilot should sincerely embrace an editorial policy of not pitting local communities against one another. Stop the competition and start cooperating; our future depends on it!
