SELMA B. HARRELL

Selma Benton Harrell, 92, formerly of Route 4, died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996, in Winslow Memorial Home.

A native of Perquimans County, she was the daughter of the late John Tatum Benton and Ida Stallings Benton and the widow of Edward Harrell. She was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church since 1924 and the United Methodist Women since 1929. She was also very active in the PTA for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Harrell Murff of Chesapeake; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Flinchum Harrell of Hertford; a sister, Edla White Webb of Hertford; a brother, Wendell Benton of Belvidere; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Swindell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Wood Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Woodland United Methodist Church, Route 4, Hertford, N.C. 27944 or the Perquimans County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O Box 191, Hertford, N.C. 27944.
