CORRECTION/CLARIFICATION: ***************************************************************** A story in Thursday's MetroNews section erroneously said that a new academic building at Virginia Wesleyan College would cost $2.5 million. That is the amount of money raised for the building so far. The cost of the building has not been determined. Correction published Friday, October 18, 1996 on page A2 of THE VIRGINIAN-PILOT. ***************************************************************** NEW VICE CHAIRMAN ELECTED AT WESLEYAN

D. Henry Watts, the vice chairman of Norfolk Southern Corp., was elected vice chairman of Virginia Wesleyan College's Board of Trustees during a board meeting Wednesday.

Watts has been a member of Wesleyan's board since 1989.

Also during the meeting, the board approved drawings for the college's new academic building by the Norfolk architectural firm of Hanbury Evans Newill Vlattas and Co.

Ground was broken for the $2.5 million academic center last month.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-1997. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
