The Bruins gained 323 yards on the ground but gave the ball up six times, three of which led to Tiger scores. No. 7 Booker T. 7
Maury 0
NORFOLK - The Bookers made Ronald Marcus' 1-yard TD run on the game's opening drive stand up the rest of the way as they set up Friday night's showdown with No. 3 Norcom for what could well be the Eastern District regular season championship. The game will be played at Booker T. The Bookers (5-2, 4-0) went 75 yards on 12 plays for the game's only touchdown. Although Booker T. outgained Maury (3-4, 1-3) by 197-100, it threatened to score on just two other occasions. An interception by Kenyuan Cornelious halted one Booker T. drive at the Commodore 12 late in the second quarter and three tackles for lost yardage and two penalties aborted another Booker drive that reached the Maury 13 in the fourth period. The Commodores, who did not register a first down until the final 35 seconds of the first half, had their best drive ended by an interception at the goal line by Kelvin Fuller midway through the third quarter. Demetrius Scott led the Booker T. running game with 88 yards on 19 carries. Duwayne Williams added 52 yards on 10 carries.

Granby 14
NORFOLK - Eric Hines scored twice to lead Norview (4-3, 3-1) past Granby in an Eastern District game. Down 8-6, the Pilots marched 68 yards in eight plays, capped by Hines' first TD. Three plays later, Richard Griffin recovered a Granby fumble, and Hines struck again for Norview. The Pilots led 20-8 until the final four minutes of the fourth quarter when the Pilots' James Whitley mishandled a snap on a punt and grounded the ball at the Norview 1. Comets' QB Dexter Reid sneaked it over on the next play. The Comets (2-5, 1-3) had another chance when Whitley threw a lateral to David Martin (six receptions for 47 yards), who left it on the ground thinking it was an incomplete pass. The Pilots managed to retain possession, and Whitley ended the game with a 53-yard punt that pushed Granby back to its own 14.
