EMIL E. EKLUND

Emil E. Eklund, 85, of Charity Drive, a retired parts supervisor for the East Coast region of General Motors Corp., passed away Friday, October 22, 1996, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Eklund was a native of Ironwood, Mich. He was the past master of the Masonic Lodge in Flint, Mich.; a member of the Shriner Ornamental Band; and a volunteer with the Virginia Beach Police Third Precinct.

He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, a veteran of World War II and was recipient of the American Defense Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, Victory Medal, and seven Overseas Service Bars.

Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Eklund of Virginia Beach; a stepdaughter, C. Yvonne Tidwell of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Bobby J. Tidwell of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, October 25, 1996, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Larry Lawson. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
