Estelle J. Kahn Johnson, 79, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Johnson, a resident of West Palm Beach, Fla., from 1945 until earlier this year, is survived by her daughter, Sandra K. Hearn; son-in-law, H.C. Hearn; a granddaughter, Abbe C.H. Laboda (husband Steven), all of Roswell, Ga.; granddaughter, Kristen Camille Hearn Levi (husband Dan) currently residing in Singapore; sister, Mary Broughton of Portsmouth; sister, Margaret Miller of Franklin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the youngest of 10 children by James and Abbie Ricks Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson for many years was a retail buyer for Belk's department stores, and had also been an associate of Burdine's and Anthony's in West Palm Beach. Among her most cherished hours were those spent over forty 40 years in Beta Sigma Phi sorority, an international service organization. She was recognized for her service by being chosen as ``Woman of the Year'' on three occasions and served as president for the West Palm Beach and Lake Worth chapters on four occasions.
Mrs. Johnson had been a longtime member of The First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach. Friends may call on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home in Boynton Beach, Fla., and a graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach.
