COURTNEY H. HAYWORTH

Courtney Susanne Hanks Hayworth, 27, died Oct. 20, 1996.

Courtney attended St. Mary's College, Raleigh, N.C., and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1981 with degrees in biochemistry and chemistry and minors in genetics and nutrition. At N.C. State, she was a dean's list student and a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, Biochemistry Club, American Chemical Society, Governor Morehead School and the Outreach Program.

Her career was centered in the Research Triangle servicing the research community. She was employed with IGEN Inc. as an account manager. She was previously employed with Corning Costar Corp. of Cambridge, Mass. Among her many accomplishments while at Corning were Rookie of the Year Award for 1993 sales, National Focus Supplier Award from Baxter Scientific Products in 1993 and 1994, Divisional President's Club for 1994 sales and Corporate President's Circle for 1994 sales.

She was married to Wilson R. Hayworth and is the daughter of Amanda Shockley Hanks and Delmer G. Hanks.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Chapel of St. Mary's College, Raleigh. The family will receive friends at 317A Clay Court, Franklin, beginning at 8 p.m. today. A funeral will be conducted at Franklin Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Sharon James and the Rev. Dr. Ira Hudgins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Contributions in Courtney's memory may be made to the Courtney Hanks Hayworth ``Rising Star'' Scholarship Fund at Southampton High School, Courtland, Va. 23827. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.
