Edwin F. Cummings Sr., 79, died Oct. 22, 1996.
A native of Revere, Mass., Mr. Cummings was vice president of Consolidated Graphics Corp. before his retirement. He was the widower of Martha L. Cook Cummings and was a graduate of Kents Hill School in 1938. He was a graduate of Dartmouth College in 1939, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. Mr. Cummings was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a first pilot of a B-17 ``Flying Fortress,'' flying 35 combat missions with the 8th Air Force in the European Theater during World War II in the winter of 1944-45.
Survivors include his son, Edwin F. ``Ned'' Cummings Jr. of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Rebecca Ellen Cummings and Frederick Carleton Cummings, both of Virginia Beach; a daughter-in-law, Ellen W. Cummings of Virginia Beach. He was the son of the late Clarence E. Cummings and Ruth Kolb Cummings.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Amy Daniels. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
