Ruby T. Nelms, 86, formerly of the 1500 block of Freeman Ave., died Oct. 24, 1996, in Norfolk.
Born in Suffolk, she was the widow of Linwood L. Nelms Sr. She was a manager of the dress department of W.T. Grant Co. Mrs. Nelms was a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church, Chesapeake, participating in the Helpful Club, Hallellujah Singers and the senior choir. She was also a member of Chesapeake First Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Linwood L. and Norma C. Nelms Jr.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Nelms Seymour and Linwood Christopher Nelms, both of Virginia Beach; and a great-grandchild, Alexander Ryan Seymour of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Penny L. Wilson Jr. and the Rev. Henry V. Napier. Burial will be in Whitehead's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chuckatuck. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home and at other times at 1312 Forest Point Drive, Bayberry Place, Chesapeake.
