MR. GEORGE H. WARREN SR.

Mr. George Henry Warren Sr., 71, of the 16000 block of Everets Road, died Oct. 23, 1996, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.

A native of Isle of Wight Co., he was the widower of the late Georgia L. Warren. He was the son of the late James and Josephine Wellons Warren. He was a member of New Jones Grove Baptist Church, Windsor. He was a Sunday school superintendent, member of the male chorus, the usher board for over 50 years and the hospitality committee. He was trustee of the church, custodian and attended Bible Study faithfully. He retired from Newport News Shipyard as a painter.

Survivors include two sons, George H. Warren Jr. of Hampton and Thomas W. Warren of Upper Marlboro, Md.; six daughters, the Rev. Easter Edwards of Chesapeake, Ms. Marie Warren, Mrs. Barbara Dixon, Ms. Ethel Babb and Ms. Edith Warren, all of Windsor, and Mrs. Joyce Hite of Newport News; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Wilson, Mrs. Frances Gray, Mrs. Mary Lou Turner and Ms. Elizabeth Warren of Suffolk; a brother, Deacon Willie James Warren of Franklin; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two aunts, seven brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in New Jones Grove Baptist Church, Windsor, by the Rev. Alvin Pierce. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Ms. Marie Warren, 14149 Blue Ridge Trail, Windsor. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
