CECIL F. SPIRES

Cecil Fowler Spires, 77, died Oct. 25, 1996, in DePaul Hospital.

A native of Norfolk, Mr. Spires was a retired field representative for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church. He was a past Worshipful Master of Charles T. Morton Masonic Lodge (NU)232 AF&AM of Virginia, Khedive Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Chesapeake, Grice Commandery (NU)16, Norfolk, Norfolk Royal Arch Chapter (NU)1. He was a past patron of Elizabeth Chapter (NU)45, Order of Eastern Star, past president of Wards Corner Lions Club, National Camping Travelers Inc., Starcraft Camping Club and AVION Camping Club. He was a graduate of Old Dominion University and was a Pearl Harbor veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Cornwell Spires; a daughter, Mary Alice Surface and her husband, Laurence Surface, of Charleston, S.C.; brothers, Robert E. Spires of Virginia Beach and Edward Franklin Spires of Spotsylvania, Va.; a granddaughter, Marie Cecelia Surface of Charleston.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by Dr. Paul B. Watlington. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either ESTARL, Elizabeth Chapter (NU)45, O.E.S., 4465 Bennetts Lane, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462 or the Wards Corner Lions Club, P.O. Box 9502, Norfolk, Va. 23505.
