Ann Sjoerdsma's Oct. 14 column, ``Usurping the judicial process,'' was right on. Clearly, if Elizabeth Morgan didn't have friends in high places, Congress would not have decided to interfere in her personal custody battle. Do you think Congress will violate the Constitution and possibly international law to help a thousand other U.S. citizens in difficult custody situations?
As to the comment of the bill's sponsor, Rep. Frank Wolf, that it is unconscionable to him that an American girl is forced to live in exile: No one has been forced to live in exile in this case. The fact is that Wolf and the U.S. Congress have just aided and abetted a criminal who fled the country to avoid accountability for her actions and abducted her daughter in the process.
We citizens should be morally outraged by this and other similar acts of Congress that flaunt the Constitution and the separation of powers.
