Robert Ervin Elmore, 75, of Grandy, N.C. and formerly of 1976 Kempsville Road, died Oct. 26, 1996, in Chesapeake.
Born in Norfolk, Mr. Elmore was a retired pier supervisor at the Norfolk Naval Base. He also worked with nuclear weapons and Railway Express. He was a charter member of Currituck Cutup Square Dance Club. He served with the 29th Division in the U.S. Army. He was an avid fisherman, a very quiet gentle man, a wonderful father and loving husband.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Elmore; three daughters, Royce Virginia Elliott and her husband, Michael, of Virginia Beach, Susan Karen Christopher of Chesapeake, Robin Jeannette McGuire of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Michael Robert Christopher and Samuel David Christopher.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Chaplain George T. Boyd. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
