Guy Milton Winfrey, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1996, in a local hospital. He was born in Roanoke, Va., but spent most of his life in Norfolk.
Mr. Winfrey had retired as a salesman for Conoly Phillips Lincoln Mercury after many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the 69th Combat Engineers during World War II.
He was a member of Azalea Baptist Church, an honorary member of its Ruth Class and a member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge (NU)266.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth E. Winfrey; a son, Larry C. Winfrey of Virginia Beach; a stepdaughter, Wanda Bumgarner of Florida; a stepson, Glenn M. Cherry of Virginia Beach; a sister, Alice Flanagan of Norfolk; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Azalea Baptist Church, 3314 E. Little Creek Road, Norfolk, by Dr. Danny L. Owens and Dr. Ernest Trueblood. The family will be at the church one hour before service time to greet friends. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Azalea Baptist Church Youth Program. Cox Funeral Home is in charge.
